Labour Day!
Labour day was first celebrated on the 28th of october 1890. New Zealand was one of the first countries to celebrate Labour day. Labour day is a day where people take a day off work. I will be talking to you about why we celebrate Labour day in New Zealand.
back in the days People didn’t get the choice of working less than 10 hours. Sadly some people even worked for 18 hours. Nowadays people around the world celebrate working less than 10 or even 12 hours. That is every year on the 4th of October.
Samuel Parnell is a man who stood up for his work hours to be shorter. Samuel Parnell decided that he would only get a new job as a carpenter, only if he would work for 8 hours a day. Samuel would always go to court to explain why we should work for only 8 hours straight. Because of Samuel Parnell we should all be thankful that we get to have a day off from work, and also from School.
it was fair that New Zealanders was the first to have the rights of claiming the right to have an 8 hour per day. Wellington judges decided for everyone in Aotearoa also known as New Zealand and other countries to have the opportunities to be able to work 8 hours.
And that is why we celebrate Labour day every year. Now you know why labour is always celebrated in New Zealand. What do you think about Labour? After reading all my reasons why then why not just Celebrate it!

Mr Jacobson's talent
As part of this terms topic "musical madness" Mr Jacobson showed us some amazing instruments that we didn't even know existed. He talked to us about the different wind instruments from around the world, and when they were invented.
Niuean Language week
Ko e Vagehau Niue Ko e Atefua he tagata Niue! Fakalofa lahi atu it has nearly come to an end for Niuean Language week. As you can see by the title we have celebrated Niuean Language week. The theme for this year is The Niue Language is the heart of Niue people.
We don't have that much Niuean students at Pt England School, but it's so cool to see how many other students who would like to be a Niuean and would like to participate in the Niuean performance. There are 14 villages in Niue, and the capital city of Niue is Alofi. I haven't been to Niue, but I hear so many things about how Niue is such a Beautiful place to visit.
This Morning we had our assembly, and the Niuean students has an amazing outfit, and there performances we Beautiful. They didn't just start with a dance, but they some kids to who said a short speech about themselves and what village they come from. We always celebrate Niuean Language Week, but I got to say that this year has been my favourite Niuean Language week I've seen!

Immersion Assembly
Our theme for this term is Musical Madness, but I didn’t know what that meant. But as I sat down on the chair I knew that I was ready to start term 3. I was excited to see what every team was going to focus on for this term. And so we started our immersion assembly, each team had to either make a movie or do a play to show what their team will be focusing on for this term.
Most Informative?
Every team gave us informations about what they are focusing on, but the Most Informative for me what Team 5 because They had more informations about what they will be focusing on for this term. Throughout the whole item they explained how they were feeling. Team 5’s focus was How do composers use music to evoke an emotional response in an audience.
Most Entertaining?
I reckon Team 3 was the most entertaining for me. Team 3 had caught my eyes because they had a conversations using songs to express how they feel about that person. They didn’t show them having a conversations but they also showed their emotions and how they felt. All the movies made me laugh but throughout the whole item Team 3 had caught my eyes, as I was watching the movie.
What do you want to find out more about?
I want to find out what songs make me feel happy, sad and also calm. By the end of the term I would like to express my feelings with the songs I listened to and why does it?
