Force and Motion

This term team five has been learning about Force and Motion. The reason why we are learning about Force and Motion is because it helps us to understand what force and motion means and for others to understand as well.

My group and I only had two ideas, and we couldn’t decide which experiment to do. Our first idea was the Marshmallow Shooter. Then our second idea was the Water Transporter. They were the only two ideas my group and I could think of.

Our first one we did was a Marshmallow shooter and our second one was called The Water Transporter. We tried the marshmallow shooter first outside, and that was a success. Then our second experiment was the Water Transporter, it was also a success. But the issue was that the water transporter took a bit longer than we thought it would.

Was our experiment Successful or was it a failure? Well both of our experiments we tried was a success. Why? Because my group and I followed the instructions carefully, and also my group and I listened very well and knew what we were doing. So I think my group and I did a successful job at our experiment.

Next time we will be more prepared to bring our own equipment and make sure to be ready before the day we present our experiment. Next time we need to come up with more ideas and listen to what other people come up with.

Talk with Mr Patterson and Raenan

This Morning we had two special visitors come to team 5 to talk to us about Aspiration, Inspiration and Motivation! Our two special visitors was Mr Patterson and Raenan. Raenan is a former student at Pt England School. He came to talk to us about, what it was like being a year 9 for the first time. At Tamaki College he was announced as a deputy Head boy. When he first started college he set his goal to be a head boy, and after 4 years his goal was a success!

Mr Patterson showed us a video about a boy who attends Manurewa High School. His Name is Dwight. In the video he talked about how his father went to prison for 8 years. His father was part of the Mongrel Mob Gang. Dwight isn't a confident speaker, But it was interesting to hear about his past life with his father.

Raenan also talked about how it was his first time being a year 9 at Tamaki College. He Talked about how he joined the geek club. He took every Opportunity that was open for him. Raenan was also in the New Zealand Herald. He also got the opportunity to go to a boat with other kids for ten days. It was a really good experience for him. The last thing he said to us was to take as many opportunities because it could take you somewhere.

Immersion Assembly

Our theme for this term is Musical Madness, but I didn’t know what that meant. But as I sat down on the chair I knew that I was ready to start term 3. I was excited to see what every team was going to focus on for this term. And so we started our immersion assembly, each team had to either make a movie or do a play to show what their team will be focusing on for this term.

Most Informative?
Every team gave us informations about what they are focusing on, but the Most Informative for me what Team 5 because They had more informations about what they will be focusing on for this term. Throughout the whole item they explained how they were feeling. Team 5’s focus was How do composers use music to evoke an emotional response in an audience.

Most Entertaining?
I reckon Team 3 was the most entertaining for me. Team 3 had caught my eyes because they had a conversations using songs to express how they feel about that person. They didn’t show them having a conversations but they also showed their emotions and how they felt. All the movies made me laugh but throughout the whole item Team 3 had caught my eyes, as I was watching the movie.

What do you want to find out more about?

I want to find out what songs make me feel happy, sad and also calm. By the end of the term I would like to express my feelings with the songs I listened to and why does it?

Speech competition

Have you ever said a speech in front of 100 students? I will be sharing to you about what happened on friday. Every class from team 5 had to pick the top 3 students to come up and present their speech in front of all of us. There was 15 kids presenting their speech to us, we also had the Pavilion joining us. I will also tell you who I thought was the most appealing, and the most entertaining. Some of them were emotional and entertaining.

The most appealing speech was Amelia. Her topic was about Her Grandma being happy about seeing her Grandkids. The reason why I thought that Amelia was the most appealing was because she talked about her Nana but the thing that Amelia didn’t get was why she was happy about cleaning dirty toilets. The reason why Amelia’s grandma was happy all the time, was because she was happy to see grandkids everyday. As she delivered her speech, it spoke to me because she gave the audience clear point about not knowing that her nana was not only happy to clean classrooms but happy to always see her kids. So in my mind I thought that maybe I would’ve talked about my grandparents as well.

The most entertaining for me was president Muba. His topic was about if I were a president for a day. He talked about if he was a president for a day, the first thing he would do, would to provide a shelter for the homeless people. The second thing he would do, would to Take the pollution level down as well as bill depts. And the last thing he would do is to make the world a better place. The reason why I thought President muba was entertaining was because he would provide a shelter for the homeless people, and the first thing that came to my mind was that he would be an awesome president one day. He’s actually funny as well, he even knows how to make people laugh and that is one of the things I like to do as well. Is to make people happy and also make them laugh as well.

So there you have it, They were the two students who I thought was Most appealing and the Most entertaining to me. I hope that my opinions was clear to you, and maybe you would like to visit their blog to see more about their speech.

The guardians of the galaxy

Imagine if you were fighting aliens, what would you do? Well maybe you might know what our topic for this term is? The Guardians of the galaxy? We are learning about the Sun and Moon, and how you would survive on a different planet.
Team 1’s focus for this term is about Solar system. Their topic is based on how life could be without kids. All six teachers from team 1 made a movie about how you could see the sun and also the earth. But I gotta say that the movies we have been watching, has been one of the entertaining and creative movies we’ve seen. Team 2 are focusing on the Sun and Moon. Their focus is all based on how the Sun and the moon changes over night. So they will be talking about how the sun changes to the moon.

Furthermore Team 3 are learning about, Time season in space and in earth. I am really looking forward to what their team are about to show the whole school what they have been learning about, for this whole term. Team 4’s is about the Planet earth 2.0. This is the video that made me understand what they are learning. And last but not least, the amazing team, Team 5. Our focus is based on what Impact does the moon have on earth? All five teachers from team 5 did a live show. Mrs Judd is a wonderful singer.

Which was the most informative? The most informative focus was Team 4’s because it gave me more information about what they are learning about. And I am really looking forward to seeing what they are going to create for this term. Who was the most entertaining? The team that was the most entertaining was Team 5 because all five teachers were drumming, playing the guitar and the piano and also Singing. What are you looking forward to finding out about this term? I am looking forward to seeing what the whole school is about to create and show how creative they could be.

poly Delicious

Have you participated in Polyfest? If you haven’t, then you may like to join polyfest next year. I will be talking to you about why belonging to polyfest is so important. And why your culture is so important to families and friends, So that is what I will be talking to you about. I am also going to be explaining to you what we did yesterday and why we had to go polyfest. I will be chatting to you about what was my favorite highlight on that day, and what was my favorite performances on that day. But not only that, I will be writing about how much fun I had at the ASB polyfest for 2017.

Yesterday team 5 went on a fun trip to the ASB polyfest, We had so much fun. We didn’t go their to just have fun, we also went their to learn about what was the important for cultures and families to see their kids performing and how they are proud to be a Tongan, or a Samoan and all of cultures. The groups that had performed yesterday, were Diversity and Maori. We had to get spilt into groups, my group was with Mrs Tele’a. Did you know that we had a wonderful women, whose birthday was yesterday, and it was Mrs Tele’a. My first highlight of the polyfest was getting to know how student’s who performs, be stable while they are performing. And how students can know more about their cultures and how it is important to their family.

My second highlight was watching the maori stages and how they go straight to their hakas, then smiling and doing their action songs. My favorite performances from the maori stage was the kaipara college. The reason why Kaipara college was my favorite performance was because, they are really focused with where their actions are, and how they can move together as a group. And their voices were terrific. I was so speechless, with how they can control themselves and how they can remember their actions. That makes me wonder if they would ever get sick of it, because how they make a mistake and then do it over and over again. Maybe one day I would like to be that.

My lucky last highlight was having fun with my friends and with team 5. It was so fun walking around the polyfest, and seeing performances that look amazing. My favorite part was going to the pacific proud because they are talking to us about how you could show respect to other people and about faith and love, and my favorite one was the language. Because it was telling us about how you are proud to be a islander. And how you could respect it.

I also enjoyed the delicious food that Mrs tele’a has brought for us. So what I have just explained to yous was about why it is so important to families and student to perform and to know more about their culture. In many ways. And what was my three highlight at the ASB polyfest for 2017. So here is a question to you. Would you take this opportunity to join the Polyfest for 2018!
